Duties:

Examples of work include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains connections with local students, faculty, business leaders, and funders;
  • Collaborates with the Director on new programs and ideas;
  • Performs skilled typing and writes routine business letters, memoranda, and reports;
  • Attends events outside working hours related to the Center for Entrepreneurship (Center);
  • Participates in student and faculty workshops to develop ideas and projects;
  • Aids the Director in locating funding opportunities and helps in drafting grants or fundraising materials;
  • Learns new skills when needed, such as web development, business planning, etc.;
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office Suite and Google products for work product production and organization;
  • Monitors expenditures within the program and maintains the Center’s budget alongside the Director;
  • Shops prices for items locally and online for price comparisons;
  • Fills out purchase order forms and travels on-island to pick up items;
  • Answers phones and greets individuals that come into the Center;
  • Remains available to oversee the functions of the Center from 8:00AM-5:00PM Monday through Friday, particularly when the Director is on other business.
  • Serves on relevant committees and performs other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a US accredited college, preferably in business management, or related field with two years of progressive experience working in the areas of administrative work, web design and other related fields. Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Knowledge of: Principles of Modern Office management (Microsoft Office Suite/Google Docs,. excel, etc.); good organizational skills; English proficiency, both oral and written. Ability to: Organize and maintain office files; Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, business leaders and funders; Demonstrated ability to employee critical thinking on tasks; Good interpersonal skills and initiative abilities are essential. An AS degree in the field of assignment and two times the number of work experience required maybe considered in the absence of the minimum qualifications.
