Under the general direction of the CRE Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for extending the Agriculture Extension Program in the Federated States of Micronesia. The incumbent plans, organizes and conducts agricultural workshops, meetings and demonstrations in the villages.

Duties:

Provides information and management advice directly to farmers, schools, non-governmental organizations and interested individuals. Works with State Agriculture, other government agencies and farmers in planning, organizing workshops at the village level. Evaluates effectiveness of workshops and programs, and implements suggested changes in areas of responsibilities. Works with the Assistant Director to develop brochures, publication and other outreach materials related to the field of responsibility; assists in developing local and national work plans. Inputs and maintains computer database of all clientele. Trains, supervises, and assists extension agents in lower grade in area of specialty. Develops own weekly Plans of Work and submits to CRE Coordinator for approval. Prepares public service announcements for the media and TV awareness programs as required. Generates reports, follows individually tailored professional development program to upgrade skills. Serve on committees. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate of Science degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, and Horticulture, Agronomy or related field forms an accredited college and four years of progressive full time work experience in the field of work assignment. Bachelor’s degree in the field of work is preferred. Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Must be computer literate and familiar with publications software. Must be able to demonstrate written and oral communication skills.
