Duties:

Under the supervision and direction of the maintenance supervisor, the individual for the position will generally be responsible for the repairs and maintenance and up keep of the Yap Campus facilities, including electrical installations, piping systems for water, sewage, classrooms, office in order to make them safe and ready for use in accordance with the Facilities Maintenance Plan. Assist in the inspection and inventory of all facilities, structures, equipment, vehicles, and tools on campus to update and improve the Campus Maintenance Plan with focus on preventive maintenance. Assist in the scheduling and carrying out the needed repair and maintenance duties required for the general upkeep of all facilities, structures, equipment, vehicles, and tools. Conduct safety checks of equipment, buildings, grounds, and take necessary action to remedy any unsafe conditions. Perform maintenance duties and responsibilities necessary to provide a safe environment and facilities, etc., that are conducive to student learning. Must work hard to assure safety of students at all times. Estimate materials and labor costs, write reports to immediate supervisor and prepare requisitions. Inspect work in progress and set pace and quality of workmanship. Keep the campus clean and beautiful. Responsible for the pick up and deliver of campus supplies, materials, and equipments to and from campus. Participate in planning and organizing of student activities. Participate in campus committees and meetings as necessary. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Four years of progressively responsible work experience in performing a variety of building maintenance repair work or equivalent combination of experience and training. Graduation from a vocational/trade school in carpentry and electricity preferred. Demonstrated commitment to student success, and experience in building strong student relationships. Must be knowledgeable in basic practices and methods in the repair of buildings, including safety procedures; knowledgeable about common tools, equipments and materials used in carpentry, plumbing, welding, mechanical and electro-mechanical trades; knowledgeable of electro-mechanical appliances used in offices. Must have a valid driver’s license. Or a combination of education and experience that provides for the above.
