Duties:

Under the supervisor of the director, the incumbent: Plans, develops and implements guidance and counseling support services to the program students; Extends individual and group counseling services to help participants to build self-confidence and to provide academic guidance; Assists in assessing each participant’s needs for academic support and prescribes and reviews student individualized target school teachers with classroom observations and provides support for in-service training for teachers, tutors, mentors; Organizes college tours and orientations; Attends professional development seminars, workshops, and meetings as required; Assists in organizing parental workshops and events; Drafts reports on the provided services to the students and parents. Serve on committees.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Educational Administration, Counseling or related fields from a US accredited college with two years of progressively responsible experience in providing education services, counseling or related assistance to students or related groups. Foreign credentials must be equated to US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Master’s degree is preferred with three years of progressive administrative experience; knowledge and experience of organizational and administrative practices in an educational department or institution; knowledge in designing, managing or implementing U.S. Federally funded program. Experience in brining a diverse group together especially when consensus is needed. Personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to program participants. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of Pohnpeian language is required.
