Duties:

Teach up to 15 contract hours per week with one to four preparations of  English and ESL courses including a combination of ESL/developmental courses, English composition, English Literature, Composition, Communications and Media studies, provide academic advising to students, maintain regular office hours, provide additional assistance to students with academic problems, participate in meetings and serve on committees for the department or college, present problems and recommendations to the supervisor, prepare course syllabus, participate in curriculum development and revision, participate in professional development activities, maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship, assist with registration and scheduling of classes for each semester, serve on committee, and perform other related duties as assigned. Tutoring or program administration appointments may be offered in conjunction with a reduced teaching load. Attending to additional needs of the College or the community as agreed upon by the faculty member in consultation with their supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in ESL/TESOL, English, Linguistics, or related degree with an specialty in TESOL/ESL, literacy, literature, developmental education, composition/Rhetoric or Reading from a US accredited institution plus two years of full-time teaching at the post-secondary level with experience with establishment and assessment of student learning outcomes. Foreign credentials must be equated to meet US standards using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org.  Two years experience teaching at the college level with ESL students preferred. Experience in living overseas from the applicant’s homeland also preferred. Ability to give evidence of exemplary teaching ability. Initiative, interpersonal skills, and cultural sensitivity are essential.
