Duties: Plan and implement a comprehensive program of academic support services for participants designed to assist them in achieving academically in postsecondary education. Develop and coordinate all academic aspects of the tutorial component of the program. Serve as a professional tutor as needed. Coordinate the supplemental instruction component of the program. Assess each participant’s need for academic support and prescribe an individualized achievement plan for meeting participants’ academic progress. Monitor participants’ academic. Develop, coordinate and conduct related workshops topics for participant. Supervise all tutors and serve as an academic advisor as needed. Develop, coordinate and conduct related training and/or workshops for tutors. Advocate for program and serve as and academic advisor as needed. Coordinate, prepare and dissmenating the Program’s News Bulletin on an annual basis (Fall semester). Maintain an effective relationship with the program participants, tutors, staff and college personnel. Perform other duties as assigned by the program director or supervisor. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or institution in education or social sciences and/or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Possession of a valid teaching certificate is desirable. Two years of successful teaching experience at the secondary or postsecondary level. Demonstrated knowledge of successful teaching and tutoring methods and techniques used in secondary or postsecondary education. Must have 2 years of working experience at a postsecondary level or preferably in a student services academic setting. Must have at least 1 or 2 years of supervisory experience in any given job responsibility or must have at least 2 years experience of being an academic advisor at a postsecondary education. Must have experience in student data entry and preparing reports. Must demonstrated knowledge, ability and interest to work with first generation and limited income college students and students with disability needs. Demonstrated knowledge of successful tutoring methods, counseling and advising techniques, and professional oral and written communication skills used in a postsecondary setting. Must have personal experience in overcoming the barriers similar to those students in the SSS to obtain a post secondary education.
