Duties: Under the supervision of the Talent Search Program Director, designs, develops and implements all Academic, financial aid and career counseling services. Designs, develops and presents academic, financial aid, career and other related workshops as well as after school and weekend tutorial sessions. Identifies and selects in conjunction with the Program Director, participants in the program. Organizes College tours and orientations. Develops a mechanism for identifying, selecting and training part-time tutors. Supervises, evaluates, and trains part-time tutors. Collaborates closely with other TRIO programs at COM-FSM. Serves as program liaison between the program and target schools. Attends seminars, workshops, meetings and conferences required for the maintenance of Talent Search Program activities. Performs other duties as may be required by the program guidelines and as may be assigned by the Program Director. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in counseling, or related field. Master’s degree in counseling or related field preferred. Minimum of two years experience in high school counseling. Knowledge and experience of organizational and administrative practices in an educational department or institution. Fluency in English and Pohnpeian required. Person with background similar to program participants preferred. Knowledge of: Talent Search Programs and organizations, their goals and objectives, policies and regulations related to field assignment preferred, techniques and procedures used in academic and personal counseling; principles and practices of modern office management. Ability to: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with high school students, faculty, staff and community; learn the specific techniques needed to fulfill student services activities program and make appropriate modifications within scope assigned responsibility work with a diverse faculty, staff and high school students; work as part of a team in accomplishing tasks and functions.
