Duties: Teach up to 15 contact hours per semester in the division of Languages and Literature. Courses include a combination of ESL/developmental courses, English Composition, English Literature, Communication, and Media Studies. Tutoring or program administrative appointments may be offered in conjunction with a reduced teaching load. Instructor will maintain a high quality of instruction resulting in measurable educational gains; prepare course syllabi; establish and assess student learning outcomes; provide academic advising to students; maintain regular office hours; meet each class at scheduled time and place for the full class period; provide follow-up on students known to need additional guidance; participate in meetings and serve on committees for the department or college; recommend textbooks; present problems and recommendation to the supervisor; participate in curriculum development/revision; participate in professional development activities; maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship; assist with regular registration and planning of classes for each semester; attend to additional needs of the college and the community as required ( in house workshops, student activities, technical assistance, etc.), and perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from a US accredited institution in English, Education (or related degree) with a specialty in TESOL, literacy, developmental Education, Composition/Rhetoric, or Reading. Masters degree from an accredited US institution is preferred. Applicants must have two years of full-time teaching at the post-secondary level and experience with establishment and assessment of student learning outcomes. Two years experience teaching college level with ESL students and two years experience in living overseas from the applicant’s homeland is preferred. Ability to give evidence of exemplary teaching ability, initiative, interpersonal skills, and cultural sensitivity is essential.
