Forum Etiquette

Ground Rules

There are a few ground rules for participation in forums hosted by COM-FSM. Please respect these rules, and each other.

Be Civil

No personal attacks, No bad language. Do not feel compelled to defend your honor in public.

Stay on Topic

Most of these discussions are high-traffic and read by busy people, so please pay attention to the topic of your messages, and check that it still relates to the charter of the forum to which you are posting. This forum only has a few categories, keep your posting in the proper category, keep student issues where they belong and announcements where they belong etc.

Be Kind To Newcomers

Newcomers may be annoying. They ask the wrong questions, including ones that seem obvious. But treating newcomers kindly makes them more likely to turn into a valuable contributor.

Point newcomers in the right direction in addition to turning them away from the wrong ones, and be kind to them in the process of correcting their transgressions.

Keep in mind that this forum is open to all com-fsm faculty, staff and students from all our campuses in the FSM, so when you make your comments, specify to which location you are referring.

This Is Not A Chat Room

Do not use this forum as you would a chat room. Use it to voice valid concerns and make announcements and discuss your topics intelligently.

Use correct spelling and proper grammar so your readers may understand and be able to respond to your comments.

We have a wide audience, only COM-FSM affiliated individuals can post to this forum, but it is viewable on the internet. Since we have a wide audience with different languages, use English.

Report Bugs or Violations of these ground rules to: vanillaadmin@comfsm.fm or to your IT representative.
