wget: Startup File

1 Once you know how to change default settings of Wget through command
1 line arguments, you may wish to make some of those settings permanent.
1 You can do that in a convenient way by creating the Wget startup
1 file—‘.wgetrc’.
1
1 Besides ‘.wgetrc’ is the “main” initialization file, it is convenient
1 to have a special facility for storing passwords. Thus Wget reads and
1 interprets the contents of ‘$HOME/.netrc’, if it finds it. You can find
1 ‘.netrc’ format in your system manuals.
1
1 Wget reads ‘.wgetrc’ upon startup, recognizing a limited set of
1 commands.
