rluserman: Readline Init File

1
1 1.3 Readline Init File
1 ======================
1
1 Although the Readline library comes with a set of Emacs-like keybindings
1 installed by default, it is possible to use a different set of
1 keybindings. Any user can customize programs that use Readline by
1 putting commands in an "inputrc" file, conventionally in his home
1 directory. The name of this file is taken from the value of the
1 environment variable 'INPUTRC'. If that variable is unset, the default
1 is '~/.inputrc'. If that file does not exist or cannot be read, the
1 ultimate default is '/etc/inputrc'.
1
1 When a program which uses the Readline library starts up, the init
1 file is read, and the key bindings are set.
1
1 In addition, the 'C-x C-r' command re-reads this init file, thus
1 incorporating any changes that you might have made to it.
