mtools: mren

1 4.22 Mren
1 =========
1
1 The `mren' command is used to rename or move an existing MS-DOS file or
1 subdirectory. Its syntax is:
1
1      `mren' [`-voOsSrRA'] SOURCEFILE TARGETFILE
1
1 `Mren' renames an existing file on an MS-DOS file system.
1
1 In verbose mode, `Mren' displays the new filename if the name
1 supplied is invalid.
1
1 If the first syntax is used (only one source file), and if the target
1 name doesn't contain any slashes or colons, the file (or subdirectory)
1 is renamed in the same directory, instead of being moved to the current
1 `mcd' directory as would be the case with `mmove'. Unlike the MS-DOS
1 version of `REN', `mren' can be used to rename directories.
