1 The behavior of Aspell can be changed by any number of options which
1 can be specified at either the command line, the environment variable
1 `ASPELL_CONF', a personal configuration file, or a global configuration
1 file. Options specified on the command line override options specified
1 by the environment variable. Options specified by the environment
1 variable override options specified by either of the configuration
1 files. Finally options specified by the personal configuration file
1 override options specified in the global configuration file. Options
1 specified in the environment variable `ASPELL_CONF', a personal
1 configuration file, or a global configuration file will take effect no
1 matter how Aspell is used which includes being used by other
1 applications.

1 Aspell has three basic types of options: "boolean", "value", and
1 "list".
1
1 "Boolean" options are either enabled or disabled, "value" options
1 take a specific value, and "list" options can either have entries added
1 or removed from the list.
