It has been known for the longest time that the Faichuk Greater White Eye, the Chuuk Monarch, and the Chuuk Poison Tree are a few of Chuuk's endemic species or species only found in Chuuk yet there has been no legislation created for their protection. Furthermore, the protection of such species is related to the protections of their habitats which include forest areas out to the mangrove areas which are also important to people's livelihood. The marine environment, of course, is very important to people's livelihood as well and the fact that the forest and mangrove areas will be protected by protecting certain species also means that the marine areas and species are protected since all three environments are interrelated.
